These programs are designed to promote physical fitness, team building, and social skills in a fun and supportive environment. Whether you are a beginner or an experienced player, there are opportunities to join a team, take classes, or compete in tournaments. With the focus on sportsmanship and healthy competition, Valley of the Sun YMCA’s sports programs are a great way to stay active and make new friends. In Valley of the Sun YMCA’s recreational basketball program, participants are given the opportunity to celebrate the love of the game while focusing on fine-tuning athletic ability, practicing teamwork, and building on basic fundamentals of the sport. The program is open to youth (aged 3-12) and involvement in the program reinforces the YMCA core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility, ensuring that youth and young adults receive a well-rounded and enriching experience. Length of assignment: Attend one preseason coaches meeting. Spend three hours per week with one practice during the week (Monday-Friday) and one game on the weekend (Friday or Saturday). Supervises all team activities. Background check required.
